Her caring and compassion towards nursing and patients were very evident in her demeanor. Tahler always exhibited respect as a nurse.
Our dad was a patient at Phelps Memorial Hospital last year and this year again. He was admitted for pneumonia and CHF exacerbation in early June this year which led to his decline. He remained in the hospital for about 2 ½ weeks prior to rehabilitation and returned to the hospital a few days later. He was then placed on Hospice in the hospital and passed away there. My dad also had dementia with his other comorbidities.
It is with heartfelt appreciation for the care my dad was given by staff, but in particular, Tahler. She had worked on both the 5th floor and 2nd floor of which my dad had been for his stays at the hospital. We can only put into words how thankful we were to know he had a nurse like Tahler.
Our dad's dementia and decline felt very overwhelming to us whenever he was hospitalized. His dementia also left him very agitated during his stays when there, in a place unknown to him along with his sundowning. With his hospitalizations in June and July this year it became very hard to communicate with him on the phone and with visitation restrictions due to COVID-19.
While my dad was in hospice care, we were able to spend more time with him at his bedside for his passing. Tahler would stop by to see him and pay respect to our family during this difficult time. Her caring and compassion towards nursing and patients were very evident in her demeanor. Tahler always exhibited respect as a nurse. She was always very thorough with her communication with us also. It appeared evident to us that she was a true mentor to the other nurses.
Tahler was truly an advocate and support for my dad's wellbeing. She not only helped my dad but also provided our family with a great level of comfort knowing he was cared for while there. She truly exemplified a commitment to her nursing skills in every way. She also exhibited her practices through a holistic approach in her attitude, encouragement, and positivity towards my dad and our family. All of these examples left us forever grateful to her and knowing my dad had a caring nurse while there.
