It was the fast and compassionate action of Tabatha that my mother received the care she desperately needed.
My mother came to the ER complaining of pain in her leg. She was experiencing "moaning" pain. OT and PT cleared her to go home. An X-ray showed a compression fracture in her back. A brace was ordered, and when it arrived and was placed on her, she experienced extreme pain. She demonstrated this pain as we walked out to the parking lot for discharge.
I went for the car, and when I got to the pickup area, Tabatha asked me to get out and explained that she, in good faith, did not feel she could discharge mom, but since she was not out of the system yet, we could take her back in, but I had to ask her to do it. I quickly agreed as she was moaning and demonstrating extreme pain. Tabatha spoke to two other people, and then we returned to the same room in the ER.
Mom expressed a 10+ pain level, and Tabatha took measures to relieve some of the pain. My mother was admitted to the hospital that evening, where she remained until discharged to a rehabilitation program. It was the fast and compassionate action of Tabatha that my mother received the care she desperately needed. Tabatha was and is an amazing nurse who cares and demonstrates what nursing stands for. I would know this because my mother, her patient, was a graduate of LGH and spent her entire career in family nursing. I am so glad that she received the care of an awesome nurse when she needed one!
