I had to take my brother, who has cancer, to the emergency room due to extreme pain and nausea related to his feeding tube. Multiple tests were administered, and Sylvia Sorak did an amazing job answering every question with great knowledge and patience. She heard our concerns and helped us get them addressed. We had been there for a considerable time because of the complexity of my brother's condition, and when she offered me a water, she came back and had a candy bar as well. And it just happened to be my absolute favorite! She told me she got to looking at how long we had been there and knew I needed something. But that wasn't all. My brother was being admitted, and when she came in to transfer him to his hospital room, she brought in a bag full of different snacks and gum. She told me she knew I had a long drive home and wanted to make sure I was taken care of, too. This service is above and beyond the scope of nursing. This service is a testament to people with huge hearts for the community they serve! I am so thankful for every person who helped us today, from registration to radiology to our provider, but our nurse really stole the spotlight with her compassion!
