My wife and I were excited, scared, and nervous. When I awoke the next day and Sydney came on shift, she celebrated my newfound life.
Coming into Mayo after not having visited the campus prior to my transplant, my RN in the ICU made me so comfortable and relaxed. Sydney treated me like a real person and not just another patient coming through the door. My wife and I were excited, scared, and nervous. When I awoke the next day and Sydney came on shift, she celebrated my newfound life. She worked hard to get me up and walking. She was very informative with any questions I had. She and her shadow took my wife and me to the cactus garden and waterfall which helped me remember how important and fragile life is and how I have been blessed with such a unique opportunity. She helped me laugh and listened thoughtfully when I was concerned with things and was so supportive and attentive of my wife when she visited. I was truly blessed with an amazing transplant team and a team of professionals for my after-transplant care. I am grateful for each of them. Sydney stood out because she was the first in-person contact I had at Mayo in a very unique story. I feel she was the epitome of what your clinic provides to people.

Note: This is Sydney's 2nd DAISY Award!
