She truly felt like an advocate for her patient, my dad, and also his family.
Suzette exemplified the characteristics that a DAISY winner should be. Our dad had been in the hospital for three weeks, and she was my dad’s nurse during the last few days of his life. She was there when we made the decision to transfer him to comfort care. She was extraordinarily kind and helpful during that terrifying transition. She explained his comfort medications thoroughly and always made sure that we were comfortable with every step of the process. She truly felt like an advocate for her patient, my dad, and also his family. One night, she came in and asked us what we would like for dinner. She brought us food to my dad’s room so that we didn’t have to leave to go get something to eat. That gesture is so special to us because it allowed us to stay with our dad and spend the most amount of time with him because he ended up passing away that night. Suzette not only cared deeply for my dad but for us to be with him, and we will be forever grateful. She is an exceptional RN that cares, comforts, communicates and shows compassion, and is trustworthy. Above all, she is a wonderful person.
