I would like to nominate Susan Bateman for this prestigious award. While I do not know Susan personally, I have had the opportunity to see her in the ICU and trauma meetings. My first impression of her was that of a highly skilled and intelligent nurse; she exudes excellence and professionalism.

This month, I had the privilege of working alongside Susan during a challenging case in the ED involving a patient with an LVAD and an arterial line. Susan came down not to instruct us but to collaborate, share the workload, and offer her expertise. Her support during this critical situation was invaluable. She went above and beyond, even bringing an A-line monitor from the ICU to the ED at my request. Her assistance helped stabilize the patient, and she worked with me to safely transfer the patient to the ICU.

Working with Susan was an incredibly positive experience. Her professionalism, expertise, and teamwork reminded me why I am proud to be a nurse. What stood out even more was her leadership and humility. Before leaving the ICU, she took the time to commend me and the team for our efforts that day, showing genuine appreciation for our work. It takes a true leader to recognize and uplift their team.
