From the moment Summer entered my room, she embodied her name, offering positivity, confidence, and compassionate care both physically and emotionally that eased my anxiety.
I was transferred from Aultman Hospital in Canton to University Hospital on Wednesday for a potential MIDCAB. I arrived around 6:30 pm, and Summer was my nurse from 7 pm to 7 am, completing my admission and offering much emotional support as I faced this upcoming reality. From the moment Summer entered my room, she embodied her name, offering positivity, confidence, and compassionate care both physically and emotionally that eased my anxiety. Summer did not rush through her work; she took time to understand and meet my needs. In the course of our conversation that night, I talked about my grief in the loss of my husband of 55 years and the fact that the 2nd anniversary of his death was in two days. Again, Summer offered so much support and allowed me to express my grief. Before leaving in the morning, Summer came to say goodbye and said that she was off for the next 6 days. But that was not the end of the story! Two days later, there was a knock on my door, and when T said, "Come in," there was Summer, with her little boy in a stroller, and a bouquet of sunflowers and daisies in her arms! Summer also handed me a handwritten note that I will treasure forever! Summer took the time to do this for me, a loving gesture that speaks volumes about the depth of kindness and love in her heart. I have shared this story with my family, friends, and fellow nurses, all of whom are awed by Summer's extraordinary act of beauty.
