For more than three decades, Sue Esleck has been the steady heartbeat of clinical excellence in Central Alabama. Her career has been defined not by seeking recognition, but by an unwavering devotion to the patients, colleagues, and communities she has served with extraordinary grace, humility, and comedic relief. It is with profound admiration and gratitude that our team nominates Sue for the DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award.

Sue’s professional journey has been rooted in a singular purpose: to make care safer, better, and more compassionate for every person who enters our health system. Through her lifelong commitment to clinical quality improvement, she has shaped not only the outcomes of countless patients, but also the culture of our organization. Her work has elevated standards, inspired innovation, and created a legacy of excellence that will endure long after her career concludes.

What makes Sue truly remarkable is not only the depth of her expertise, but the generosity with which she shares it. She has mentored, guided, and uplifted so many of us, often seeing potential in others long before we saw it in ourselves. Her leadership is the kind that changes people: steady when the work is hard, encouraging when the path is unclear, and always grounded in the belief that we can do better for our patients and for one another.

Sue’s influence extends far beyond metrics and initiatives. It lives in the nurses she has shaped, the leaders she has strengthened, and the countless individuals whose lives have been touched by safer, more compassionate care because of her efforts. Her impact is woven into the very fabric of our system; a testament to what one dedicated nurse can accomplish when she leads with heart, integrity, and an unshakeable commitment to doing what is right.

For over 30 years, Sue has been a role model, a teacher, a champion for quality, a beacon of what nursing can and should be, and a supportive friend. Her legacy is seen in both her achievements and those she inspired to continue her work. We will carry this forward with pride because of the foundation she created.

As a team, we are honored to put forth this nomination. Sue Esleck embodies the spirit of the DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award in every possible way. Her career has been a gift to this organization, to Central Alabama, and to the nursing profession itself.

Thank you, Sue, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
