He consistently creates a calm and reassuring environment, ensuring that patients feel safe, supported, and well cared for.
Steven did a wonderful job putting my mother's mind at ease as she woke up after a procedure. He has a great sense of humor and a personality that truly suits his career. He is right where he should be. We so appreciate having him assist us today.

I was a patient who had surgery with Dr. L. Steven was my nurse in PACU. I just wanted everyone to know the amazing nurse you have in your recovery room in Steven. He has a way of making you feel comfortable and reassured, even though you are a bit scared. He really went above and beyond in caring for me. He never left my side. (I'm sure he did, but I was snoozing, but when I opened my eyes, Steven was always there).
It is really special when a nurse can make you feel like you are the only patient in the whole hospital. Just when you thought it could not get better, he called me at home to check on me. That's really amazing. That extra step is what makes Steven and VVMC stand out. VVMC is very lucky to have Steven. He is what every patient hopes for in their nurse. Thank you, Steven.

Many thanks to Steven in the recovery room. He was my nurse after surgery. I had some issues during surgery and a bit after, and the whole time, Steven was calm and reassuring and VERY knowledgeable. I told my doctor that if I ever have to have surgery again, I wanted to be sure I would get Steven as my recovery room nurse. He is absolutely the best. Thank you, VVMC, for the great experience during a difficult time.

I would like to recognize Steven for the amazing job he did with a patient (baby) and the family. He was so kind and compassionate with them and took the time to explain all the discharge instructions in detail. At the time of discharge, Steven asked the baby, "Do you want to go to your mom?" But instead, the baby reached for Steven, and he carried the baby to the car with the family.

I would like to recognize a truly exceptional nurse who cared for me in the recovery room. His name is Steven VanDeventer. His kindness, expertise, and dedication made a lasting impact on my experience. He consistently creates a calm and reassuring environment, ensuring that patients feel safe, supported, and well cared for. His commitment to his patients is evident. He thoroughly explains discharge instructions, making sure patients understand their care while also including family members to provide an extra layer of support.
As the family of a patient in the recovery room, we can hear him speaking to other patients. He is so kind and knowledgeable. Patients come in for surgery and are scared and fear the unknown. By the time they reach Steven in the recovery room, he is able to reassure them that the surgery is over, and he keeps them calm and gives them a sense of relief that everything has gone well.
VVMC is incredibly fortunate to have such a skilled and compassionate RN, whose dedication to patient well-being goes above and beyond.
