She consistently goes the extra mile, even on her days off, to ensure that her patients feel loved, supported, and cared for during their time of need.
I want to nominate Stephanie Tangeman for a DAISY Award. I feel Stephanie exemplifies the true essence of nursing through her unwavering dedication, selflessness, and exceptional care for her patients. Not only is Stephanie a role model for her colleagues, but she goes above and beyond by providing not just medical care, but also emotional support and comfort to her patients. Her acts of kindness, such as buying clothes, toys, and craft supplies for her patients, truly showcase her deep compassion and empathy.
Recently, we had a developmentally delayed and nonverbal patient on our unit who was found in the community, abandoned by their mother. The patient was admitted to our unit and was unable to fully understand why they were in the hospital. The patient was extremely shy, vulnerable, and fearful, often staying hidden under their blankets. Stephanie took the time to work with the patient, whether she was assigned to them or not, and eventually got the patient to trust and interact with the nursing staff. The patient had undergone a complete 180-degree turn, and I believe it is due to Stephanie. What sets Stephanie apart is her ability to treat each patient as if they were her own family. She consistently goes the extra mile, even on her days off, to ensure that her patients feel loved, supported, and cared for during their time of need. Her selfless actions and genuine care have undoubtedly made a significant impact on the lives of those under her care, creating a warm and nurturing environment within our healthcare facility. For these reasons and many more, I wholeheartedly believe that Stephanie is a deserving candidate for the DAISY Award. Her dedication to providing exceptional care and support to her patients is truly inspiring and sets a remarkable example for all healthcare professionals.
