I was having a pretty rough morning; I came into the Emergency room because I had been throwing up blood early in the morning. The emergency room had their hands full with a bunch of new patients coming in, and there were only two nurses working the floor, but Stephanie made sure to help me feel comfortable before she had to move on to the next patient. She went over the treatment plan with me and made sure I had no questions or concerns. The doctor had ordered a doppler in order to listen to my baby's heart rate, and Stephanie asked if I had heard the baby yet. When I said I hadn't, she asked me if I would like to record it. This really touched me, as she made sure to take the little extra time to let me get a decent recording for listening to later. I didn't feel rushed or hurried through the treatment process and Stephanie would regularly check in on me, asking if I needed anything and attending to any of my requests in a reasonable time frame. When lunchtime came around, she asked if I would be able to eat the full meal or if I would prefer something smaller and easier on the stomach. I felt well taken care of and relaxed, which we all know is very important in a potentially stressful situation.
