Speaking the same language, Spanish, as my mother, she provided not only medical care, but a sense of understanding and comfort that made my mom feel truly heard and safe.
My mother has faced many health challenges, and during her hospital stay, every moment of care truly mattered. Among all the wonderful staff, one person stood out during the day: Nurse Stephanie. From the beginning, Stephanie connected with my mom in a unique and powerful way—through language. Speaking the same language, Spanish, as my mother, she provided not only medical care, but a sense of understanding and comfort that made my mom feel truly heard and safe. In a time when pain and fear were overwhelming, that connection made all the difference. Even though Stephanie was clearly busy and working hard throughout the day, she never let it show. She was always patient, kind, and ready to help, no matter how small or big the need was. Her positive attitude and gentle presence brought peace to my mom and reassurance to us as a family. What truly impressed us was how Stephanie served as a bridge between the doctors and our family. She helped us understand what was happening, and she made sure my mom’s voice was heard. That level of compassion and professionalism is rare—and unforgettable. Stephanie didn’t just provide care; she brought dignity, empathy, and peace into my mother’s days. For that, we are forever grateful. With all my heart, I want to nominate her for the DAISY Award. She is a shining example of what it means to be a nurse—and a healer.
