Stephanie was caring for a patient on 4W before a valve surgery, where she would be transferred to 4E post op. During her shift, Stephanie heard the patient's husband say he could not remember where he had parked his car. The husband was getting more upset, and with that, his mentation worsened.

The patient’s son came to the hospital to try and help and find the car and help his father, but unfortunately, could not. Stephanie listened to the patient’s husband explain what he could remember and the description of his car. Stephanie decided to change her route home to look for the car, and based on the description, sent a picture of the car and license plate to the nightshift CN. The CN showed Stephanie's photo to the husband and son, and that was their car! Stephanie helped this family in the stressful time before surgery by preventing them from having to walk around Hyde Park looking for a vehicle while their loved one was recovering from open-heart surgery. Stephanie's thoughtfulness and willingness to help this patient and their family truly helped them and their recovery. She stood out as a nurse willing and able to go above the normal call of duty
