I am writing to nominate Stephanie Schlabs for the DAISY Nurse Leader award. Stephanie has truly demonstrated exceptional dedication and leadership, especially during a recent weekend when she was on call. She made sure to stay in constant communication with the units to stay informed about any developments. When Stephanie learned about a NICU code, she immediately began investigating the situation. She took the time to sit with the concerned parents, listened to their worries, and conducted a thorough chart review. Furthermore, she debriefed with the physician and nurses involved to gather all necessary details. Without hesitation, Stephanie escalated her concerns and ensured that they were addressed promptly. What I admire most about Stephanie is her ability to be transparent and honest about areas for improvement while presenting the information in a caring and compassionate manner. Her integrity and dedication to our values were truly evident. Stephanie's meticulous approach led her to develop an algorithm outlining when to use Epic chat, when to call the physician, and when to request a physician's presence at the bedside. Thanks to Stephanie's leadership and expertise, we are now better equipped to provide safer care for our mothers and babies.
