I am proud and grateful to nominate Kyle Alerta, BSN; Savannah Scott, BSN; Madeline Cox, BSN; Hannah Cox, BSN; and Niki Hopkins, PCT, for the DAISY Team Award.

This extraordinary team exemplified the very essence of compassionate, patient-centered care during the final days of a patient's life. While providing care for a patient nearing the end of her journey, they demonstrated not only clinical excellence but also remarkable compassion, empathy, and kindness toward both the patient and her family.

Throughout this difficult time, the team worked seamlessly together to ensure the patient was comfortable, dignified, and treated with the utmost respect. They anticipated needs, provided emotional support, and created an environment where the family felt heard, included, and cared for. Their acts of kindness extended far beyond routine nursing responsibilities. They took the time to listen, comfort, and provide reassurance, helping the family navigate one of the most challenging moments of their lives.

Their care had a profound impact. After their loved one's passing, the family shared how deeply touched they were by the compassion and dedication this team showed. They expressed that the nurses and patient care technician made them feel as though their mother was not just another patient, but a cherished individual whose comfort and dignity truly mattered. The family was so grateful for the exceptional care they received that they returned to the hospital to personally recognize each team member with individual awards for going above and beyond in service, compassion, and kindness.

Such recognition from a grieving family speaks volumes about the lasting impression this team made. Their actions provided comfort and peace during a time of tremendous loss and demonstrated what it means to care for patients and families with both clinical skill and heartfelt compassion.

This team embodied Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare's mission: "To enhance your health and well-being through high-quality, innovative and compassionate care." In every interaction, they lived this mission by ensuring the patient and her family felt genuinely cared for, supported, and valued. Their collective commitment transformed a difficult experience into one marked by dignity, empathy, and human connection.

The DAISY Team Award recognizes collaboration that makes a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and families. Kyle, Savannah, Madeline, Hannah, and Niki represent the very best of healthcare teamwork. Their compassion, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to serving others created an unforgettable experience for this family and exemplify the highest standards of nursing excellence.

For these reasons, I wholeheartedly recommend Kyle Alerta, Savannah Scott, Madeline Cox, Hannah Cox, and Niki Hopkins for the DAISY Team Award. Their actions remind us of the difference a compassionate team can make and reflect the heart of why we are called to care for others.

Thank you for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
