I am honored to nominate Stefanie Garcia. About six months ago, she first cared for my brother, who had been in and out of the ICU for over a year. During one of the most challenging times in his journey, when he received a trach and began mobilization, Stefanie stood out as a pivotal caregiver. She exemplifies the highest standards of nursing in the ICU. She is compassionate, professional, friendly, and patient. These are qualities anyone who knows the patient will deeply appreciate. Her attentiveness and kindness were unwavering, and her ability to build a meaningful rapport with my brother was extraordinary. She not only provided exceptional medical care but also showed profound emotional support. I will never forget one moment when my brother was struggling with the loss of his voice and had a breakdown. Stefanie simply held his hand and soothed him. She offered comfort and understanding in a way that words could never achieve. As we return to the ICU, Stefanie continues to uphold and surpass the high standards she set during our 1st encounter. I am deeply grateful for her compassion. And to the entire ICU team, their collective professionalism, dedication, and compassion have been a beacon of hope for our family during one of the most difficult chapters of our lives. Each team member has played a vital role in my brother’s care. Though I appreciate each team member, I also appreciate Stefanie and her personal support of my brother.
