Steeve Jean, RN is known as the “Secret Super Power of SHOW” and  “The honey bear whisperer of SHOW”. Steeve has been a valuable part of our SHOW team since 2024. (SHOW: Street Health Outreach and Wellness: The SHOW Program is a street and community-based mobile health initiative that provides compassionate health related services with a particular focus on the unsheltered New Yorkers experiencing homelessness. 

On one encounter with a patient on the street, the SHOW team discovered that the patient was homeless. Arrangements were made for the patient at a shelter, hours after Steve finished work. However, Steeve stayed with the patient and accompanied him to the shelter in Manhattan, making sure he was settled. Steeve understands what SHOW means and what it takes to reach the patients in the community. 

Mr. Steeve Jean was nominated for his outstanding commitment to providing compassionate, skillful, and patient-centered care. He consistently goes above and beyond to ensure that every patient is heard, feels valued, and cared for in the most meaningful way. Consistently, Mr. Jean checks in on the SHOW patients to make sure they make it back to the shelter safely. He also reaches out to remind patients to collect their medication from the pharmacy without being assigned to do so. He makes visits to the homeless shelters where he collects blood specimens and does wound care for these patients. On several occasions, Steeve went above and beyond to get patients to the ED from the shelter where they reside. He also makes sure that these patients are connected with our Safety Net practice here at Woodhull for a follow-up appointment.

Mr. Jean embodies the true spirit of nursing, demonstrating kindness, clinical excellence, and is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of our patients every day. We as a team are extremely honored to have him as part of our team and grateful for the profound impact he has on the patients.
