Being a former night shift nurse, it can be harder to connect with the patient and family at night. However, Stacy has a personality that cannot go unnoticed, no matter what time it is. She took care of my mother-in-law during her stay, and one particular night, Stacy was advocating and working with her to ensure she wasn’t re-intubated. Stacy stayed at her bedside and kept encouraging her to cough and would provide her with suction.

Eventually, Stacy and my mother-in-law worked together to get a large amount of mucus out that was causing her distress. We were very thankful for this because she didn’t have to be re-intubated. Stacy is the type of nurse who will not leave until they ensure they are finished with everything. She is always willing to help anyone, and she is very energetic and talkative, which eased the family’s anxiety. My husband has told me on multiple occasions how grateful he was for Stacy and for the care she provided to his mother. He was almost in tears talking about how she spent so much time in the room caring for her. Stacy will always hold a special place in our hearts for being such a caring person.
