My wife was admitted to MHMC recently. She was scared, confused, and disoriented. Stacey was the nurse who greeted us in the room as we arrived from the ED. She was very professional and understanding. She helped us get settled into the room. It was around 0100 in the morning. I went home around 0230 to get a little sleep. When I returned around 0730am, the day shift nurse asked if anyone had called me to let me know my wife was confused and trying to get out of bed. I said no. Stacey stayed with my wife in the room to comfort her and keep her safe throughout the remainder of that night. Being a nurse myself, I realize the sacrifices Stacey made to stay with my wife and keep her safe and calm. The work, stress, and expectations put on nurses are immense. Stacey exemplifies what it means to be a DAISY Nurse. She selflessly sacrificed time she could have used to chart and take care of other responsibilities. She showed compassion that she did not have to. My wife and I are grateful for her and the care she gave during this time of need and uncertainty. She was the nurse assigned to my wife the next night, and she was just as excellent and professional as she was the night before. I have personally worked with lots of nurses, and I can't think of anyone who is more deserving of this recognition than Stacey. She is truly a remarkable nurse and an even better person. Thank you!
