Stacey Oberhauser, MSN, RN, CNOR
I am honored to recognize Stacey Oberhauser for her exceptional nursing care, leadership, and dedication to both her patients and colleagues.
Recently, I had the privilege of working alongside Stacey during a highly complex endovascular procedure that extended well beyond her scheduled shift. Without being asked, Stacey remained over two hours past the end of her workday to assist with a critical case involving a patient whose outcome depended on seamless teamwork and expert clinical care.
As a nurse who does not frequently scrub these procedures, I relied heavily on Stacey’s knowledge and guidance throughout the case. She patiently taught, supported, and coached me while simultaneously managing the demands of a rapidly evolving surgical environment. Her ability to educate while maintaining focus on patient safety was remarkable.
What stood out most was Stacey’s extraordinary leadership. Throughout the procedure, she stepped in wherever help was needed—assisting the circulator, supporting the X-ray technologist, helping the CRNA, anticipating the surgeon’s needs, and ensuring the entire team functioned efficiently. She never waited to be asked; she recognized needs before others did and acted immediately.
Her calm demeanor, expertise, and decisiveness helped keep the case moving forward during a stressful and challenging situation. Stacey exemplifies what nursing should be. She consistently places patients first, serves as a resource for her colleagues, and leads by example.
Her willingness to stay long after her shift ended, not for recognition but because she knew the patient and team needed her, speaks volumes about her character and commitment to the profession.
The patient benefited from her expertise, and I benefited from her mentorship. Stacey’s actions that day not only contributed to a successful outcome but also reinforced the importance of teamwork, compassion, and excellence in nursing care. She is the kind of nurse every patient hopes for, and every colleague hopes to work beside.
