I am honored to nominate our incredible Labor and Delivery nurse for the DAISY Award. Sonnett’s compassion, strength, and unwavering dedication embody everything this award represents.

I have watched her advocate fiercely for her patients, ensuring their voices are heard and their birth plans are respected. From the moment she walks into a patient’s room, she brings a sense of calm that is almost magical. Labor and Delivery can be one of the most vulnerable and unpredictable times in a family’s life, and she meets every moment with confidence, grace, and empathy.

Beyond her clinical excellence, Sonnett inspires her colleagues daily. She mentors new nurses with kindness, never hesitates to help during a busy shift, and encourages us when we doubt ourselves. When she is on the unit, we all feel more confident.

Personally, I have had a great experience, especially learning alongside her. She has the ability to guide your emotions in a job that can seem overwhelming and difficult at times. She is great at giving perspectives on how we can see things in a positive light. She knows medical safety and places it first when it comes to patient care.

When and if we have a code hemorrhage, she communicates calmly and respectfully to help guide the situation to a safe place. I feel I can look at our jobs as a passionate career consistently when she is working.
