The night shift recently was a wild night with multiple traumas and OB emergencies. One of those traumas was a 4 year old little boy who sustained burns to both hands. Sondi, as the House Supervisor on shift, spent time with these grief-stricken parents. Sondi learned that they were struggling financially and used the last $40 they had to fill their gas tank to bring their son to the ED. Sondi attempted to find resources for the family, but with no Care Coordination services at night, Sondi used her own personal account (bank account) to pay to fill the family’s gas tank for their return trip home so they wouldn’t be stranded in Flagstaff away from their home in Seligman. Sondi’s compassion for not only this family, but for each family/patient she encounters as the House Supervisor truly shows in all she does. Sondi has a big heart and is constantly giving to others before herself or her family’s needs. Sondi was the angel this family needed in their dark and scary moments.
