She dedicated lots of time and effort to assisting the patient and encouraging her through her tears to keep going.
S'Nyria cared for a patient who was alone in the hospital suffering with pain and decreased mobility after an invasive orthopedic surgery. The physician ordered the patient to ambulate to the bathroom as tolerated, but the patient was understandably afraid and hesitant to do so. S'Nyria reassured the patient that she would be available whenever the patient was ready to attempt ambulation. She dedicated lots of time and effort to assisting the patient and encouraging her through her tears to keep going. The patient safely made it from the bed to the restroom and back. S'Nyria was there to ensure her safety and comfort throughout. The patient was so thankful for S'Nyria's encouragement and patience - she asked S'Nyria if she would be back to care for her the next day. The patient stated that S'Nyria had been an excellent caregiver and lifted her spirits. While the patient had been resistant to toileting education previously, S'Nyria was able to explain the importance of weight-bearing and ambulation to the patient and empower her to use her call light for assistance. The patient made lots of progress during that shift due to S'Nyria's patience, communication, and empathy.
