It is with great admiration and respect that I nominate this nurse for the DAISY Award. His dedication to patient care went above and beyond the typical duties expected of a nurse, showcasing not only his clinical expertise but also his selflessness, compassion, and commitment to his patients.

We had a critically ill surgical patient who required urgent transfer to a trauma center. Due to treacherous weather conditions, flight was not an option, and our nearest trauma center was on diversion. In the face of these challenges, he stepped up without hesitation. Understanding the urgency of the situation and the need for a seamless transfer, he volunteered to accompany the patient on an over two-hour EMS transport to a tertiary care center – despite the conditions that made this transfer anything but routine.

This journey took over four hours in total, and he did not once consider the impact this would have on his time or the distance from his own family. He remained with the patient, providing constant, expert care throughout the entire trip. His actions ensured that the patient received not only the necessary medical attention but also the emotional reassurance that can only come from the steadfast presence of a compassionate nurse.

His willingness to go above and beyond, regardless of personal sacrifices, is a perfect reflection of his commitment to our patients. His selflessness and unwavering dedication truly embody the spirit of the DAISY Award. He is a model of professionalism, compassion, and exceptional care, and I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this honor than him.
