Shoshana was assisting a fellow nurse in a delivery when the patient hemorrhaged. The patient was subsequently taken to the OR and ended up in the surgical ICU. The next night, when Shoshana came back to work, she made sure to come 15 minutes early so that she could go visit the patient in the SICU.

The patient was intubated but awake and lucid. Shoshana spent her time communicating with the patient, helping her as she wrote out what she wanted to say. Her patient expressed a longing for her baby, as her baby was not allowed in the SICU. Shoshana later spent her break time visiting the baby in the well baby nursery, videoing the baby, and then bringing the video for the mom to see.
