Her servant heart and transformational leadership style demonstrate that she is not afraid to step onto the floor alongside her team.
I just wanted to tell you about the great job your nurses and aides are doing. I would like to take the time to mention a few that have stuck out in my mind. They truly went above and beyond. It feels like family when you are on the 4th floor as a nurse.
First of all, Shonda, the floor manager, goes above and beyond by asking patients how they are doing, what needs to be changed to improve, and things like that. She has taken out my finished meal tray when she stopped in to just see how I’m doing. She is doing an outstanding job as manager. She doesn’t ask anyone to do what she wouldn’t do. Thanks for putting together such amazing teams. I don’t mind being stuck in the hospital when such Ahhhmazing people are here, from nurses to aides. You are doing great!
From her Director:
As a director, it has been an honor to watch Shonda grow over the last six months. She is truly invested in her team, her patients, and the physicians who support and collaborate on 4E. Shonda’s passion for leadership and for the organization’s mission, vision, and values genuinely sets her apart. She consistently goes above and beyond for her team and does not always receive the recognition she deserves.
This letter from a patient who has frequently been a patient on 4E for years highlights the impact Shonda has had not only on unit culture, but also on staffing, patient care, patient experience, quality outcomes, and overall morale. Shonda has built an engaged team and is actively developing involved, empowered charge nurses while setting a strong example for other units throughout the hospital. Her servant heart and transformational leadership style demonstrate that she is not afraid to step onto the floor alongside her team. At the same time, the engagement of her staff reflects her ability to transform culture and ensure the highest level of care for every patient.
