She brings humanity to healthcare, ensuring that every interaction is infused with dignity and compassion.
Sherry Tennies is the embodiment of what it means to be a DAISY nurse, and a living example of Rochester Regional Health’s commitment to uplift humanity through care for our community. Throughout my time in ambulatory care, first as Sherry’s peer and now as her leader, I have witnessed her unwavering commitment to excellence, compassion, and resilience. She consistently goes above and beyond for her patients, her team, and this organization.
Over the past year, Sherry’s sites have faced extraordinary challenges, including the loss of nearly all providers and clinical staff, as well as the departure of the Practice Manager. Amid this upheaval, Sherry remained a pillar of strength and stability. Her leadership, calm demeanor, and tireless work ethic helped sustain operations and morale during a time of great uncertainty. She truly exemplifies our value of Serve as one, recognizing that our work is never done, and it’s never done alone.
Most recently, Sherry led the relocation of two practices to the new Geneva Medical Campus, alongside her team and operational partner DA. This was a massive undertaking that required meticulous planning, coordination, and execution. Thanks to her dedication, the transition was seamless, with minimal disruption to patient care. Her ability to manage complex logistics while maintaining a patient-centered focus is nothing short of remarkable.
In doing so, she helped advance our vision to become a national model of health and healing. Sherry routinely arrives early, stays late, and steps in wherever she’s needed. She leads by example, fostering a culture of teamwork, empathy, and clinical excellence. Those she works with describe her as the “go-to” person, someone they can rely on not just for her expertise, but for her kindness and support. She cares like family, because the whole person matters. Patients feel seen, heard, and cared for under Sherry’s watch. She brings humanity to healthcare, ensuring that every interaction is infused with dignity and compassion.
Whether she’s mentoring a new nurse, comforting a worried patient, or navigating operational/clinical challenges, Sherry does it all with grace and humility. Her work is deeply rooted in our community, and she consistently embraces tomorrow, today, driving innovation and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of those we serve. Sherry Tennies doesn’t just meet expectations, she elevates them. Her impact is profound and lasting, and she is truly deserving of the DAISY Award.

She works tirelessly—often putting in long hours—to make sure our office is covered and running smoothly, all without complaint. Her dedication, leadership, and compassion truly make a difference every day. Sherry has been a vital part of rebuilding a struggling practice, and her leadership has built a team of clinical staff that work together as a team through staffing shortages and any other challenges that they face day to day.

Sherry does a wonderful job, helping patients and office staff. Mignon Enecilla Sherry is our nurse leader in the Geneva Internal Med office. Her attitude is always positive. She is always willing to go the extra mile for patients. She never complains and always takes care of any problem that arises. She is quietly efficient. We need 100 plus more people like her.
