She was kind and attentive. We observed her taking care of other patients. She never stopped. She was constantly in motion.
My daughter was a patient at CAMC Teays Valley Hospital ER at the end of January 2025. We arrived at the ER shortly after 6 PM. The waiting room was slightly crowded. We had an expectation of waiting hours. Shortly after being registered, they called us back for Triage. We had made it back to our seats and my daughter’s name was called by this incredible nurse. We did not even make it out of the waiting room when her name was called again from X-ray. The X-ray was very kind and got us taken care of quickly, and we were brought back to our room in the overflow section of the ER. We were quickly seen by the PA and told we were just waiting for the X-ray results. All in all, the process took less than an hour from registering to being seen and having X-rays.

While in the ER, we were under the care of the nurse who originally called us back. She was kind and attentive. We observed her taking care of other patients. She never stopped. She was constantly in motion. It is rare to see someone consistently working the way that she was. I have been a patient and have recently been visiting several people in the hospital. You often see personnel grouped together chatting, sitting, or on their cell phone. My point is, you often see people consistently NOT working. I asked this nurse if it would be all right if I wrote a letter on her behalf. I was so impressed with her efficiency. She truly cared that people were waiting to be seen. She apologized for us having to wait on the results and was around it felt like each step of the way. We had to wait over two hours for the Radiologist to read the knee x-ray. I understand that it was out of anyone's control in the ER and to my understanding there is hope that with new radiologists coming on staff and future wait time on readings will decrease.

People are often critical and quick to point out others' mistakes and shortcomings. I want this letter to be part of this nurse’s performance review, as someone needs to know she provided excellent patient care, was proactive in seeing a need, and opened the overflow section of the ER. She should be recognized and rewarded for going over and above for the care she offered to my daughter and others.
