Sherri Hutslar, LPN, is highly compassionate and goes above and beyond her call of duty daily. Most recently, we had a patient in the outpatient setting who did not have enough food at home and admitted to not having had anything to eat that morning. She promptly went to the vending machine and got her juice with some food to eat, but she did not expect anyone to know what she had done. She looked up resources for the patient to get food that day and would not accept any compensation thereafter. She is a giving and kind person. She did this a second time when someone’s sugar was low and spent her own money to help the patient’s feeling of lightheadedness. When we sent one of the patients for further evaluation for higher care in the ER, she was holding his hand as he cried because he was scared and worried he would not be all right. She continues to show compassion to the patients and is an excellent nurse. She goes above and beyond her duty and provides the best care, listening to patient’s stories about their kids or grandkids and helping relate to them. She even gives the whole pod Christmas goodies and makes every holiday by giving out candies and chocolates for Halloween. She helps us think of ways to celebrate the holidays, even Valentine’s Day, Easter, and St Patrick’s Day. She makes work a fun place for all of us and is an extremely kind and caring individual.
