We all know that if Sheri is there, everything is going to work out and be okay.
To know Sheri is to love and admire her. I have been fortunate enough to work with her since I started as a nurse 5 years ago. Sheri is the first person to stand up for what she believes is right. She is not afraid to stand up to the providers or case workers if she believes there is a better way for the patient. She is constantly advocating for her patients and making sure that everyone is working as a team to ensure that the patients receive the best possible care.

When Sheri is on shift with you, everyone just comes together and works together because she shows how much easier and better it is when you work that way. Sheri is whom every single one of us looks up to. We all know that if Sheri is there, everything is going to work out and be okay. She leads by example, and whether she knows it or not, she has shaped many of us nurses into who we are today. Just one small example: Sheri, K, and I were in a code in the ER. Sheri was the charge nurse and led the code with such calmness and grace. She made sure we each knew our roles, but then made sure to make the patient's last few moments on earth count. He was from the same community that Sheri was from, and she knew he didn't have much or anyone to come be with him. She stood right there at the top of the bed and talked to him, and let him know that he was cared for and loved in the last minutes of his life. I will never forget how that made me feel, and it reminds me every day of the nurse that I want to be.

I feel like Sheri is an angel to a lot of us. She makes everyone she works with feel like they are somebody and that they can and do make a difference. She doesn't let anyone go without recognition or a compliment. That in itself speaks volumes. When you are praised, it makes you a much better person and nurse. As for the patients, I can't even count how many times I've heard patients say that she is the best nurse they have ever had, and wonder where she is when she isn't on shift. She is often recognized for being so personable and actually taking the time to sit with the patient and making them feel heard and seen. This means so much to patients who often times feel so helpless in the hospital.
