Shelby Strong, RN
There are certain people you meet during difficult moments in life that you never forget. Shelby Strong is one of those people.
From the moment she walked into the room, Shelby brought a level of care, warmth, and genuine compassion that immediately put our family at ease. She didn't just do her job, she showed up for us. Every time we pressed the call button, she came in with a smile, ready to help, never rushed, never frustrated. In a time filled with uncertainty and stress, her calm presence meant everything to us.
Shelby took the time to answer every question, no matter how small, and made sure we understood what was happening every step of the way. She treated our husband and father with such kindness and dignity, and she treated our family like we mattered too.
What truly set Shelby apart was what she did when things became complicated. When we made a last-minute change to the type of home health care we wanted, it could have easily delayed the discharge. But Shelby didn't let that happen. She immediately recognized that the proper authorizations were not in place and took it upon herself to fix it. She pushed to get evaluations ordered right away so that he could still go home that same day.
That mattered more than we could put into words. He had been asking to go home every single day, and Shelby made that happen for him.
Before we left, she made sure we were not just discharged, but truly prepared. She patiently walked us through how to care for him, how to change his bandages, how to care for him, how to manage his drains. She gave us the confidence we needed to take him home safely.
Shelby didn't just provide excellent nursing care. She changed our experience. She made a difficult situation feel lighter, more manageable, and more human. Her compassion, urgency, and heart made a lasting impact on our family, and we will always be grateful for her.
