I wanted to send an email regarding St. Joe's in Murphysboro. I was paired with Shelby H, this past semester on nights. She was the most accepting preceptor I have ever had. She gave me the confidence to practice skills and also searched for opportunities in the unit for me to practice skills I've never done before. She truly wanted me to learn and grow as a nurse. This included how to chart, learning medications, practice skills, and communicate with other units. She has such a radiant personality that made me look forward to coming in for clinical. I never once felt like I was tagging along, but I truly felt involved with the patient's care. She is such an amazing preceptor, but she is also an amazing nurse. I saw how genuine she was with her patients and how she created true relationships with them. I would love to nominate her for the DAISY Award to show my appreciation.
