I am an employee at Saint Alphonsus. I was working one day when I was called down to see my manager. I was then informed that our daughter K was in the hospital due to cardiac arrest and a lack of oxygen. She came in as Jane Doe due to no ID. Our beautiful girl was without oxygen for too long, and we were waiting to see if her brain made any improvements. The third day, we met a lovely nurse by the name of Sharlee Emery, who exemplified every core value of Trinity Health. She was kind, caring, and followed through with everything she said. The thing that really hit home was when she cleaned all the gunk out of K's hair, washed her hair, and brushed it out, then lovingly braided it. K became brain-dead. We had to keep her body alive for 3 days because she was an organ donor. That was a horrible time. K's nurse was once again Sharlee, which was very fitting. She was the exact nurse we needed that day. She stayed with K through the whole process till the bitter end. K saved 3 lives that day with her heart, liver, and kidneys. She deserves this award for so many reasons, I don't have the words to express.
