RN Sharika Smith showed compassion by following me (the wife of the patient) out of pre-op and offering words of comfort. She initiated a display of caring and commitment to her profession beyond what was required of her position.

Anyone who has ever left a loved one for surgery knows the feeling of being left behind as you watch them go through those doors. Sharika recognized this feeling without being told or even through words exchanged, and she acted upon it with genuine compassion and comforting words.

She truly displayed care for another person.
