Shannon has been a wonderful addition to our Acute Care at Home team. She consistently goes above and beyond for all of her patients, and the team can always count on her to step in when extra support is needed. I would like to share a recent example that highlights her selfless dedication.

Shannon received a call from one of her patients at approximately 3:30 AM. The patient was distressed and concerned that something was not right and asked if Shannon could please come check on her. While Shannon could have advised the patient to contact her physician when the office opened at 8:00 AM or to proceed to the emergency department, she instead left her home at 3:30 AM and drove to the patient’s residence to assess her condition and ensure she was safe. It was determined that the patient required further medical attention. Not only did Shannon respond to the patient’s home, but she also accompanied the patient and her spouse to St. Bernard’s Emergency Department to ensure the patient was settled into her exam room, assisted with paperwork, and provided a report to the ED staff.

Shortly after the patient was admitted, her spouse left to return home. The patient later received a call from her spouse stating that he was lost and unsure of his way home. Shannon left the ED once the patient was stable and went to locate him. She found the spouse disoriented and heading in the opposite direction of their home. Shannon assisted him and ensured he safely returned home.

This is just one of many examples demonstrating Shannon’s exceptional dedication to her patients and their families, and the compassionate care she provides every day.
