I would like to take a minute to say that having Shannon as my husband’s nurse on the very day and all through the weekend of the Epic launch was a blessing!

My husband was ambulance-emergency transported to UPMC Western Maryland, and after testing, he was diagnosed as having had a TIA Basel Ganglia Stroke. By the Grace of God, he is blessed with an unbelievably rapid recovery.

I have been involved in new system integration with a large insurance company; hence, I thoroughly understand the difficulties that may arise. In light of all, Shannon was steadfast in her duties to my husband. Amazing! “The System” never seemed to be an obstacle for Shannon. On the contrary, she absolutely excelled with her duties and wonderful approach – and seemed to just work through the concerns associated with the launch – never mentioning the obvious difficulties. What excellence – professionalism and flawless patient care.

Shannon was kind and caring. She has a delightful personality – we instantly felt comfortable with her. She's a personified multitasker – in the midst of the system/conversion, she never forgot a request. Her nursing skills are impeccable. Shannon is a person we genuinely like. We trusted her judgement unconditionally. She is, in our opinion, an example of nursing excellence that should set the bar for patient care.

Once again, without her at our side during the Epic launch and stressful concern regarding my husband’s stroke, my narrative of our experience would not be a positive one. She certainly made care her priority with concern and transparency.  This patient never suffered an issue of neglect due to Shannon.
