Her calm and comforting bedside manner has helped both me and my mom stay less stressed.
Shannon helped me out and gave me dinner while I was in triage. It was amazing. Amazing people over the top people, they take care of you really well here, thank you for everything. Please give her a little award, she deserves it.

My 77-year-old mom fell while using her en suite bathroom early in the morning the day after Christmas. She broke her arm in the fall. With her injury, I couldn’t get her up, so I had to call paramedics. Shannen was her assigned nurse and gave her pain meds as needed to help control the pain. Due to the holiday, it was a bit of a wait first for X-ray, then a very long wait for the ortho consult. There is a shortage of nurses today due to the holiday and call-ins, but Shannen came in with a smile every time my mom’s pain came creeping back, and she would re-order meds from the doc to keep my mom comfortable. My mom had a bad break and was in a lot of pain, but Shannen reassured her to keep calling as it wore off, and we’ve been here 5 hours now, and the ED is hopping crazy busy, but she still keeps returning when we call and requesting and then providing pain meds to keep my mom comfortable. I can see and hear all the ways she is being run ragged outside this room, and this experience has been stressful, but her calm and comforting bedside manner has helped both me and my mom stay less stressed. Knowing it’s the day after Christmas and that everyone really wants to be home with their families, I am extra grateful for Shannen’s smiles, comforting words, and her patience with the constant requests for pain relief. Thank you to her and all the healthcare staff today for helping me get through this stressful time. Thank you, Shannen, for not being too busy to smile, share encouraging words of comfort, and genuinely care about my mom.
