I brought my five-month-old to the emergency department at around 9:30 am because she had a seizure. Once we got into a triage room, our nurse, Shanna, asked us the right questions and was very proactive in making sure that the room was ready with supplies in the event my daughter had another seizure.

Sure enough, 30 minutes later, she had another seizure. I yelled "help" out of the door of our room, and Shanna was the first one in, grabbing materials to help her with her breathing and making sure she was safe.

She checked in multiple times throughout the day. When I voiced my concerns about the staff potentially having to stick her many times to get a proper IV, she ensured they brought in the ultrasound person to do the IV so that my daughter could have a successful IV the first time.

When my daughter had to get an ultrasound on her head, she came with us and brought supplies in case she had another seizure. Before she went to another area at around 3 pm, she ensured that the next group knew in detail everything that had occurred that day.

I cannot say enough how her calm, prepared, and compassionate heart made our experience so much less stressful during such a hard time. She went above and beyond to ensure my little baby was safe and receiving the best care possible.

She listened to our fears and concerns, communicated clearly, and loved our family well, even in the chaos of this traumatic event.
