She took the time to talk to me and put my fears and anxiety to rest.
Shanida is the most caring, compassionate, and understanding nurse I have ever met. She made my stay at the hospital so much better than I expected. I was scared, and she really put my mind at ease. She listened to me ramble on and never really acted like she didn’t have the time for my questions or concerns. She always explained what she was doing while taking vitals and giving me medication. She lovingly examined my feet for something to see if I was retaining fluid. She listened to my breathing and heart. When she drew blood, she explained what she was doing, and she was so light-handed that I didn’t even feel it. I don’t even know how she was able to do that because my veins are not good, and everyone has trouble. She took the time to talk to me and put my fears and anxiety to rest. My elderly mother stayed with me at the hospital, and Shanida even asked her if she needed another warm blanket or if she could get her anything. My children and grandchildren were visiting during her shift, and she interacted with them as well. It put my mind at ease knowing that my mother and I would be well taken care of. My mother does not sleep well at night, so she was awake on and off. She witnessed Shanida looking in on me every hour or so, checking on us all through the night. I feel like she treated me not only as a patient but as a person. Providence Hospital is very lucky to have a nurse like her. Every patient who gets her as a nurse is lucky to have someone so caring. Thank you, Providence, for hiring such great nurses, and thank you, Shanida, for your care.
