I would like to recognize my emergency department nurse, Shane, for the exceptional care he provided during my ED stay. I came to the ED with chest pain, feeling scared and unsure of what was happening. From the very beginning, he was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to clearly explain every step of what would happen during my emergency visit and the admission process.

His intelligence and confidence immediately put me at ease. What truly set him apart was his compassion—not just toward me, but toward my family as well. He answered questions patiently, reassured my loved ones, and made sure we all felt informed and included. Despite the seriousness of the situation, he maintained a lighthearted, jovial demeanor that helped ease my fear and brought moments of calm and comfort when I needed it most.

In such a vulnerable and scary situation, his presence made a tremendous difference. He treated me like a person, not just a patient, and I will never forget the care, kindness, and professionalism he showed. He is exactly the kind of nurse who embodies the spirit of the DAISY Award, and I am deeply grateful for the care he provided.
