Ms. Carey really made a positive impact on me and the school's community. Her approach was to display compassion, offer guidance, and uplift everyone with kindness. She came into De Priest showing compassion by going beyond her needs to discover the reason for a student's chronic illness. After having conversations with the student's parents, researching symptoms, and the student's medical history, she was able to address the illness properly and also provide guidance to the parents to help minimize the symptoms.

She offered guidance to me by making sure I was educated on how to assist the student's illness and how to care for the child's well-being after leaving the nurse station. She uplifted everyone with kindness by greeting us with a smile and a simple phrase, "Hey, beautiful. How are you doing?". She made me feel seen, heard, and most importantly, loved by just saying this phrase every single day.

If your response was not the best, she would provide encouraging words or a hug to ensure the rest of your day was great. It was amazing to have someone like Ms. Carey who not only provides expert care but also brings warmth and understanding into the school environment. It's clear she's not just doing her job but going above and beyond to make everyone feel valued. I was lucky to have her a part of the DePriest community. She's truly a rock star!
