Dear September Whisler,
I struggle to find the right words to express my gratitude for the way you cared for my mother. Everything you did mattered. When you adjusted her bed, you reassured her that she wasn't falling. When you administered her medication, you explained exactly where she would feel it. You never infantilized her. You treated her with dignity, respect, and a kindness that felt like you were caring for your own mother. I don't know how to thank you enough for that.
On her final day, when I was in so much pain that all I could manage was to hold her hand, you asked me questions about her life. You listened as I told you she was an amazing grandmother, a miracle working with plants, and a guppy savior. I don't know if she could hear us, but if she could, I know she felt comfort knowing the wonderful memories my daughters and I will always carry. Thank you for giving her that gift.
Thank you for healing me with carbs, for letting me cry, and for the embrace you gave me before I left. You helped me through one of the hardest moments in my life. You carried some of my burden when I was overwhelmed by the tragedy of losing my mother. You are a very special and beautiful person, as well as an exceptional nurse. I wish you health, love, and joy always.
