I am no stranger to hospitals or clinics, so dealing with doctors, nurses, or PCTs is nothing new to me, whether in a hospital or clinic setting. My life has been full of both. I will have to say Selamawit is a superstar of an RN. She lives up to the meaning of her name alone. Even before coming to this hospital. I already knew the meaning of her name from another woman I work with at the postal service. The meaning of her name is peace, happiness, and harmony. I asked several other staff members if they knew, so I taught them the meaning. It always surprises me that the other staff don't know. When I arrived here, my life was in the middle of a severe storm. She knows the patients well on an individual basis. She knows what meds they are on and when they get them. She would even remind me of the nicotine patch and have one ready for me to switch out. She makes me feel so comfortable, even when she is not my nurse. It is hard for me to feel that I can trust people at given times and places in my life. She definitely makes me feel like I can trust her. She is so kind and understanding of my situation and makes me feel understood. She is so easy to talk to and nonjudgmental. I have no worries when she is my nurse and on staff. During my stay here, I have faced a number of obstacles, but she always assures me that things will be okay, which brings me peace of mind. Some of which are beyond stressful and frustrating. She is an RN who truly understands and cares about her patients. With all that said, I can never thank her enough. I certainly will never forget her as long as I live. I hope that, no matter what curveballs come her way throughout her life, she never stops being an RN, because she is a rock star at it. She also makes me laugh at various times, which helps me heal faster.
