September 2026 Honoree
Selah Tiblier, RN
I would like to commend Selah Tiblier in recognition of the extraordinary compassion and care she provided to my grandmother during her time on the med-surg unit. From the moment Selah walked into the room, her warmth and kindness cut through what felt like a dark cloud of terminal illness. She didn't just care for my grandmother; she connected with her in a way that made her feel safe, valued, and deeply loved. Every time she entered the room, she brought a sense of peace with her.
One of the most meaningful moments for our family was when Selah hugged my grandmother before she left. It was not a routine gesture. It was genuine, tender, and full of heart. She made my grandmother feel like she was part of her family. In fact, my grandmother, who had become a bit confused, once asked how long Selah and I had known each other. That question alone speaks volumes about the connection Selah built with us in such a short time.
Selah consistently went above and beyond in both big and small ways. Any concern we had, no matter how minor or significant, was addressed promptly and with care. She never made us feel like a burden. Instead, she made us feel heard and supported during one of the most difficult times in our lives. One especially beautiful memory was when Selah helped my younger sister give our grandmother a "spa day." She assisted with a full bath, a facial, and a manicure and pedicure, turning an ordinary moment of care into something dignified, peaceful, and even joyful. That kind of thoughtfulness is something we will never forget.
As a nurse myself, I understand the demands of this profession. What Selah demonstrated went far beyond skill and task completion. She showed true, intentional compassion. What Selah gave to my grandmother and to our family was rare and deeply meaningful. Because of Selah, my grandmother experienced comfort, dignity, and human connection at a time when it mattered most. Our family will carry that with us forever. Selah Tiblier is exactly the kind of nurse the DAISY Award was created to honor.
