With the hands-on training he gained during his time at FSU, Sebastián offered to care for those in a vulnerable and critical state.
Luis “Sebastián” López Sepúlveda recently completed his practicum in the pediatric intensive care unit at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. In this unit, Sebastián was able to gain the knowledge on providing state-of-the-art nursing care for infants, children, and adolescents with complex conditions. He is also a current employee of Publix supermarket as a pharmacy technician, where he has been able to ensure the correct and safe distribution of medications for the community. While working at Publix, Sebastián has taken part in fundraising opportunities for March of Dimes and United Way. During the summer of 2020, he worked as a Certified COVID Nurse Assistant at Baptist Health. As the coronavirus pandemic progressed, hospitals in Jacksonville increased their need for nursing staff. With the hands-on training he gained during his time at FSU, Sebastián offered to care for those in a vulnerable and critical state. Upon graduating and receiving his certification as a registered nurse, Sebastián’s goal is to find a position in a pediatric unit. He plans to continue providing care for vulnerable populations and participating in different programs to serve his community. Sebastián’s long-term goals include being certificated as a Critical Care Registered Nurse and returning to school to receive a Master of Science in Nursing as a family nurse practitioner.
