October 2026 Honoree
Season Brown, RN
I am nominating Season Brown because she delivered excellent care to my Grandma earlier this spring. My Grandma had spent most of the day in the ER, where she also had excellent nurses! I came over after work to check on my Grandma, and it was shift change while I was there. Of course, my Grandma was a little hesitant about who her new nurse would be, especially since she wasn't feeling well. Season came in and immediately worked to gain my Grandma's trust. We talked about dogs, the rain, and even my Grandma's newest great-grandson who would be arriving soon. Season knew the kitchen had already closed for the night, but she worked her magic and got my Grandma some chicken noodle soup and some fruit too. It seemed there was no request too big or too small for Season to handle.
When it was time for my Grandma to rest and for me to leave, I struggled to say goodbye. I met with Season for a brief minute at the nurses' station, and I asked her to take really good care of my Grandma and not hesitate to call my dad if anything changed overnight. She didn't hesitate, saying she would take the best care possible, and she knew she could look up my dad's phone number, but she wrote it down anyway, assuring me she would call if even the slightest thing changed. The next morning, when I spoke with my Grandma, she told me over and over again how great Season was. She had struggled to fall asleep, and she said that Season sat with her for a while, just to be there! Then my grandma said that when she woke up in the middle of the night, a little disoriented, Season was there quickly to reassure her that she was okay and that they were taking good care of her. Nurses like Season are why three generations of my family drive several miles to get care in Holton. Thank you so much, Season!
