For the last year each unit was given quality improvement initiatives to help improve our resident’s quality of life. This unit’s team has set a shining example of what can be achieved through dedication, collaboration, and a shared commitment to continuous improvement. As leaders in the quality improvement initiatives introduced earlier throughout the year, they have not only met their goals but have seen a notable improvement in skin integrity and residents’ overall quality of life.

The team's efforts have led to noticeable improvements in care delivery, patient safety, and daily routines. More importantly, their work has had a clear and positive impact on the lives of residents and their families. Feedback has highlighted increased satisfaction, stronger communication, and a genuine sense of trust and happiness among those in their care.

Behind these achievements is a team that works seamlessly together, led by their CNM. The culture of support and open communication is felt across every shift. Whether covering for one another or brainstorming new ways to improve care, this team embodies the spirit of true collaboration.

In addition to their clinical and day-to-day responsibilities, this team goes above and beyond by organizing extra activities such as “Spray a Carer” (Sunhill's version of whack-a-mole) and “I trust my residents,” involving a cup on the head of staff, which residents attempt to knock off with a bean bag. These meaningful moments for residents bring joy, connection, and a sense of community to the unit. This team also had some difficult moments during the year with two sudden cardiac arrests and every member worked together in which a ROSC was achieved in one of these cases.

This award recognizes their outstanding leadership, compassion, and teamwork in driving both quality improvements and a positive care environment. The Seapoint team, led by CNM Jovita Juryte-Bickiene, truly exemplifies excellence in nursing and is awarded our first DAISY Team Award.
