I would like to nominate Sean Enslow-Newman for a DAISY Award for the exceptional care he provided to my 9-month-old son, R, during our ER visit.

The days leading up to our visit were long and stressful. We originally went to the ICC, but due to a security incident in the lobby, we were redirected to the GFC ER. Then, to make matters worse, R projectile vomited all over the ER check-in desk. I was already anxious and overwhelmed and did not want to be in the ER. Instead, we were met with compassion and care that exceeded our expectations. We didn't even get a chance to sit down after checking in, and they called us back.

When Sean stepped in, his kindness and calm presence immediately made a difference. He could see how exhausted and stressed we were and met us with patience, empathy, and genuine warmth. He shared that he also had a young baby at home. He used thoughtful humor to lighten the mood without ever minimizing our concerns. Anyone who has tried to collect a stool sample from a baby knows how difficult it can be, especially when that baby is experiencing non-stop diarrhea. Sean brought us diaper after diaper as R sailed through them, never showing frustration. Although we ultimately weren't able to get the sample, we shared some much-needed laughs that helped ease a very stressful moment.

When I decided we were ready to be discharged, Sean made the process seamless. There were no delays; he brought the paperwork right away and made sure we had Pedialyte, which helped us feel prepared and supported as we went home.

At the end of our visit, I asked Sean for his name because I wanted to remember him and his kindness. After thinking about it, I realized that his care deserved to be recognized. Sean's compassion, light humor, and humanity made an overwhelming experience easier.

Thank you, Sean, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
