She never made him feel rushed, took the time to chat with him, treated him with such respect, and wanted to hear his story.
When C was transferred to the CLC, I was so worried about how he would adjust. The one nurse who made that transition and his whole stay at the CLC easier was Savannah. Her professional but playful demeanor totally relaxed him, and he seemed to feel a bond to her even weeks later. She always had him smiling or laughing, and there was no task she would not do for him. Whether it was to go to the bathroom, to shower, to walk, to change his clothes- there was never a question of whether she would help. Even when Savannah was not his nurse, she would several times throughout the day stop in to see him and see if he needed anything. Each time she assisted with anything, it was like he was her only patient. She never made him feel rushed, took the time to chat with him, treated him with such respect, and wanted to hear his story. She made sure he was part of the My Life My Story news, which he so loved talking about. She always tried to figure out ways to make tasks for him easier to keep him more relaxed and treated him with such dignity, knowing that prior to his cognitive change, dignity was very important to him. Her humor was fantastic, and she knew exactly what to do or say to be that smile to his face. This young lady went above and beyond for us throughout our entire stay. She is one of a kind and such an asset to the CLC. She truly was a guardian angel for him, and I am so thankful that she was here for anything at all that was needed. Thanks so much, Savannah! You were our rock!
