The compassion she showed and her dedication to making me comfortable were so special, and I continued to think about her after I was discharged.
Any hospital stay is challenging and taxing on the patient, and mine was particularly hard. I came to the unit at 8 weeks pregnant, not knowing what was going to happen with my own health or my baby’s. I was fortunate enough to have so many amazing nurses on KP 16 and 17. However, while Sarunya was my night nurse for three nights in a row toward the end of my stay, I was extra lucky.

Sarunya treated me like a friend, and we quickly bonded after she helped me shower, wash, and style my hair. Truly spending time going above and beyond to make me feel more like myself after almost two weeks in the hospital. The compassion she showed and her dedication to making me comfortable were so special, and I continued to think about her after I was discharged.

Fast forward three months, and I was unfortunately readmitted to the unit. Even though Sarunya was not my nurse during my second stay, she made sure to come and visit me and check in during her shifts, giving me a big hug and telling me how happy she was to see me. We talked about the baby, now in my second trimester, and it was clear she was genuinely happy for my husband and me.

The next night, she came to my room with a beautiful, thoughtful gift for my baby, turning a time that felt so scary and uncertain into a special, happy moment to celebrate how far I’ve come. Not everyone would go out of their way to plan and prepare a personal gift for a former patient like that, and it truly speaks volumes about the kind of nurse she is.
